Hazrat Ameer Shariat Maulana Syed Shah Minnatullah Rahmani (Rahamatullah Aley) belonged to an illustrious family. He was disciple and representative (Khalifa) of Hazrat Shah Fazalur Rahman Ganj Muradabadi (Rahamatullah Aley). His father Hazrat Maulana Syed Mohammad Ali Mungeri (Rahamatullah Aley) was the first manager and founder of Darul Uloom Nadwatul Ulema. He received education at Darul Uloom, Deoband and Darul Uloom Nadwatul Ulema. He was considered an expert in Tafseer, hadith, and fiqh. His writings and lectures not only show his deep insight in the Islamic knowledge but also show a deep concern for Islam.

Hazrat Ameer Shariat Maulana Syed Shah Minnatullah Rahmani (Rahamatullah Aley) participated in the Freedom Struggle in his youthful days and suffered imprisonment. He was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Bihar province. However, he felt that he would not be able to serve the country and community by continuing as the member of Legislative Assembly. Therefore he resigned from the Assembly.

He was appointed Sajjadanashin of the Khanqah Rahmani. After his appointment as the Sajjadanashin, he re-established Jamia Rahmania at Munger. He had deep understanding of the issues confronting the Muslim community. In 1954 he initiated his endeavour to modernise the Madaris education. Reorganisation and restructuring of the syllabus of institutions of Islamic learning was his passion. He wanted to refashion the Madaris in the light of changing scenario.

Hazrat Ameer Shariat Maulana Syed Shah Minnatullah Rahmani (Rahamatullah Aley) was a brilliant person. He was aware that the world was undergoing changes continuously.

He took prominent part in the establishment of All Indian Muslim Personal Law Board. He confronted opponents of Muslim Personal Law in a scholarly and dignified manner. He strived for protection of Muslim Personal Law throughout his life.

He died on Ramadan 3, 1411 H, Tuesday, corresponding to March 19, 2024.
